Jo-Ha-Kyu
Japanese aesthetic principle articulated by Zeami for Noh theater that describes the natural progression of time and rhythm in performance: jo (introduction) begins slowly and establishes the atmosphere, ha (development) accelerates and introduces contrast or tension, and kyū (rapid climax) brings a swift and decisive conclusion. This structure reflects a universal pattern found in nature, life, and the arts, influencing not only theater but also music, dance, martial arts, and tea ceremony.
Juice
A Shadowbody term denoting a literalism or pantomime in movement which has not been fermented yet.
Jumping Wild
Jumping Wild is a Subbody term coined by Rhizome Lee. Despite what the name suggests, this practice is not about physically jumping but jumping from qualia to qualia. This dance involves perpetually shifting qualias. As soon as one begins to settle into one movement or qualia, the switch is made to another.
Jumping wild is the qualia of qualias. Jumping Wild is a natural result of becoming shisha (dead) or entering the multi-dimensional world, goal of butoh.
